About Me

Hello, I am Louis Ritchie. I’m a 29 year old developer, husband and father of two. I was born in the Royal Jubilee hospital in Victoria in 1994. My parents are Mervyn & Erica. I grew up in a small town in the North Shuswap.

I am a self-taught full-stack developer, sysadmin, and designer. I was fortunate to get a great education in Mathematics from TRU, from 2013-2015. In 2015, I decided to take things to the next level and transferred to uVic, intending to master software development. I had reasonable success at uVic. Meanwhile, I found lots of work with startups. My work experience imbued me with a thorough understanding of software development, as well as a lot of practical experience. I proposed to my wife in 2018, was married in 2019, and was back in Salmon Arm by 2020.

Since moving back to Salmon Arm, I’ve developed several full-stack web applications. I do it under my own name & business for the most part. Currently, I am searching for a good team to join who could use an effective full-stack developer.

The majority of my experience is with Node, Javascript, Typescript, and CSS. I have written substantial applications with Elixir and Ruby. I am a Vim user, using the LunarVim Neovim distribution. I am proficient with Git. My greatest strength is my ability to grasp a lot of complexity at once, and to quickly find solutions to complex problems. I can grasp, then understand, then simplify them into an interface.
